Perform a Google photograph look for classroom data walls, and you’ll find plenty of instances of teachers’ hard work to display students’ test ratings or academics achievements in front of the peers. The new popular method to accountability, particularly in institutions where high stakes assessments are the norm. But it’s likewise one which is criticized seeing that doing even more harm than good.

At Sharpstown Secondary school in Harrisburg, principal Rob Gasparello has learned this. His school made enough improvement to come off the state’s list of “academically unacceptable, ” but many of its students are still under grade-level. While the data areas have been valuable, they’ve also been incredibly time-consuming for lecturers. Copying and pasting into spreadsheets takes several hours, which consumes into the limited amount of time that teachers include for professional development and planning. And because displaying analog data requires a computer and an internet connection, it cannot be easily distributed to other workers. That’s so why it’s critical to look for alternatives that allow teachers to safely share scholar data with just the those that need it.
